The area of Lida Polesna

The artificial slalom course in České Vrbne was opened in 1981 and the very first competition took place already in that year. The original proposal for locality, which was in the heart of České Budejovice, in the cutoff of the Vltava River, was refused because of low fall of the river. So the best alternative was the area near the weir in České Vrbne. There had been very long and difficult discussions between the representatives of the club and the state power bodies before the works could start. But finally they had been persuaded of benefit from projected artificial slalom course, mainly thanks to the many times world champion Lida Polesna, and the works could begin.

The artificial slalom course in Ceské Vrbne is famous for its safeness and increasing difficulty, so that it's suitable as well for the beginners as for professional racers. Thanks to its variety the course is acceptable for a log-term training, which can be proved by very high continual level of efficiency of racers from České Budejovice and firstly by number of medals from international competitions in junior and senior categories. Because of high level of efficiency a lot of slalom racers from CB became members of the centres of professional athletes either of Dukla Brandys or USK Prague. The white water area of Lida Polesna offers with its location and area ideal possibilities for building the centre of professional athletes with anything that is needed for these centres. It means that it's very good place for physical preparation, also suitable for regeneration, accommodation is available right in the area…The area has been so far fully utilized by Japanese, French, Slovaks, Chinese, Austrians, Germans, Americans or Australians.

The area of white water sports is not only used for top sport, but also for recreation and tourism. The area is situated near the cycle-way from České Budejovice to Hluboka nad Vltavou so that many of bikers, skaters and hikers have a rest in a restaurant or they refresh themselves in "waves of the course". Thanks to a new project of City České Budejovice and South Bohemia region called "MĚSTO A VODA" ("City and waterway", it is make navigable Vltava River from Hluboka nad Vltavou to České Budejovice) will be the area even more mesmeric. Because the area of Lida Polesna is in this project in centre of tourist and holiday resort. We wouldn't like to offer visitors only attractive atmosphere but also pleasant foul territory for active relaxation, which means as well exciting aquatic sport and various sports activities as a high-quality of accommodation, restaurant and caravanning.
